Want More Self-Directed Options?
Once you’ve created your self-directed retirement account (and if you haven’t, I can help with that), the very next thing most people ask is “now that I can invest in whatever I want, what should I invest in?”
So I gathered this Epic List of Alternative Investments and I tried to describe each one in layman’s terms, and then link to further explanations and resources. The list includes just about everything except the standard stocks, bonds and mutual funds you’d normally find at your brokerage (and actually, some of those are in here too).

BLUE icons mean you can buy this asset within a traditional brokerage account.

RED icons mean that this type of investment CANNOT be held in a self-directed account due to IRS/DOL regulations…but it’s still an alternative investment so it’s included in the list.
If you know of (or offer) an investment that isn’t on this list…tell me! I intend for this list to be absolutely exhaustive. *
Now, on to the list!
